Piece of Me #2: Dreams: A Date with Destiny or Deceptive Delusions?

Our worries and fears are often manifested through our dreams. Our subconscious works tirelessly during those crucial 8 hours of shuteye and we are habitually confused over the meanings or significance of what happens whilst we slumber. But are dreams truly reflective of your inner thoughts and desires? Are they accurate indications of things to come?
According to official statistics, on average, we have approximately 36 dreams every night.
A friend of mine dreamt of a plane crashing into her family home the night of the September 11th attack in 2001. Indisputably more than a coincidence. Clearly, I am not suggesting that those recurring dreams involving you and Brad Pitt or Megan Fox are indicative of a blossoming future relationship (Sorry to let you down...) But those midnight visions that are closer to home which feature familiar faces, places, and events surely have some innate connection to reality. They must mean something, or else why would they frequent our sleepy minds?
Should we be more perceptive to the messages communicated through our dreams? Should they be recognised as a guiding force not to be reckoned with, or are they merely trivial optimisms unlikely to materialise?
Ever had a dream come true? No? Me neither.
