Piece of Me #46: Game, Set, Match...

Welcome back Wimbles!

Now I'm no sporting disciple - I don't support a football team, I can't stand cricket, and the mere thought of having to endure 18 holes terrifies me.

Having said that - there is one exception to the rule. And it's called Wimbledon.

There's something quintessentially British about the whole thing, and I can't help but be entirely consumed by it for the two weeks that it runs for.

So join me - sit back, settle down, and savour those strawberries...

Piece of Me #45: New nostalgia - the scent of strawberry jam...

As I lay in bed this morning contemplating life, blogging about flowers, and generally wasting the day away, I suddenly sensed the most wonderful smell and just had to share it with you!

At first, I couldn't put my finger - or rather my nose - on it... but after putting two and two together (it's strawberry season chez Hollis and we've got the little beauties coming out of our ears,) it dawnned on me...
Strawberry jam!

Barbs, you work hard to make me happy at home with your culinary wizardry, but I think you've just completely and utterly won me over with this re-discovered odour of pure loveliness!

Piece of Me #44: Say it with flowers...

On my to-do list this weekend is to buy/pick myself a beauitful bouquet of flowers...

As I'm sure my female counterparts will agree, there's nothing quite like a bright bunch to raise one's spirits.

I'm not quite sure what it is about them that makes us feel better about life - perhaps it's their romantic connotations - they make us feel surrounded by love somehow!

Something which always brings a smile to my face is seeing a stranger carrying flowers. Often the guy in question looks sheepish and embarrassed, but sometimes he is beaming from cheek to cheek - and whether they're for his mother, grandma, or girlfriend - it makes me happy.

Such a small gesture, but they really do say so much...

Piece of Me #43: Wham Bam Thank You Sam Cam!

Never thought I'd see the day a PM's wife wore Christopher Kane, but Sam Cam, I applaude you! Paying tribute to the Scot, she sported one of his trademark fluoro lace dresses to the Scottish Fashion Awards, and boy did she wear it well...

... So well in fact, I'm green with envy!

Oh how I wish I could afford...

Piece of Me #41: They say that sunshine brings happiness, but oh to dance in the rain...

To you all.

Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.
So to each and every one of you - whatever you've encountered- whether a severe storm, or a light drizzle, I'm sending you a shower of love.

So get dancing...

Something good is sure to be just around the corner...
